Android app support, an easy to access weather app in your taskbar and a new windows media player. Windows 11 Performance
When Windows 11 first released many people anticipated Windows 11 to have a huge performance boost over Windows 10. However, many online sources have made videos or articles disproving this. Windows 11 has little to no performance boost over Windows 10. However, Windows 11 does still have an upper hand on Windows 10. With faster windows hello logins, boot times and a faster waking from sleep mode. Windows Hello is a biometrics based way of accessing your devices. Microsoft have said that their windows updates that will run in the background, will have 40% less of an effect on performance. Meaning multitasking could become more reliable.
When will Windows 10 become End Of Life?
How will Windows 11 help my business?
Now you might be wondering, how Windows 11 can help your business and employees to grow and be as productive as possible. Windows 11 has been designed to make your life easier, within Windows 11 there are many tools and features that can help you and your employees to stay focused and most importantly productive. Here are a few.
Snap Layouts
Snap Layouts are a new feature to Windows 11 and they help you to divide your open windows into different sections. You can separate them in to a total of six different layouts (Depending on the app) this improves productivity and space as you can have multiple windows on one screen. I personally use this feature a lot when working from home as i use an ultrawide display and it can be helpful to spread information out a bit. My personal favourite is the layout that splits one side of your screen into two different sections.
Voice Typing
Instead of typing out sentences, you can narrate them out loud. This can help you and your employees save time, as you can do something else on your computer while you read aloud what you want to say. In order to use Voice Typing in Windows 11 you have to hit the Windows Key and the H Key together. Alternatively you can just type "Voice Typing" into the search bar.
Widgets
Widgets are a new feature to Windows 11 that allows you to access information you might typically head into a web browser for such as weather, sports scores, news, traffic, and even a quick look at your calendar. You can toggle into widgets by clicking the third icon from the right of the windows icon in your taskbar (if you have not removed this in the settings) Alternatively you can search for widgets in the search bar.

Did Microsoft copy Apple?
One of the main differences you'll notice once you start using Windows 11 is that the design is completely different to Windows 10. For their new OS Microsoft have decided to go with more of a soft, rounded and minimalistic look. When looking at Windows 11 you can definitely tell that Microsoft took a lot of inspiration from apples macOS. When looking at the two side by side there are a lot of resemblances between the two operating systems, from the placement of the start tab to the smooth and soft look of each window. However, i believe that the resemblance in design is not due to Microsoft wanting to copy macOS. Rather both companies wanting the same outcome for their OS. A clean and tidy minimalist design.
Microsoft's minimum requirements
In order to use Windows 11 your computer must meet Microsoft's minimum requirements. Microsoft has made it much easier to check if your computer is ready to use Windows 11. They have done this by adding a PC health check app to the "Windows Update" section of your computers settings. This app puts your computer through a series of tests to see if your machine meets the minimum system requirements to run Windows 11. If using an application to check if your machine meets the requirements isn’t your thing, we have them listed below.
Windows 11 System Requirements
- Processor -- 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor
- Ram -- 4 gigabytes of ram (GB)
- Storage -- 6 GB or larger storage device
- System Firmware -- UEFI, Secure Boot Capable
- TPM -- Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0
- Graphics Card -- Compatible with DirectX 12 or later with WDDM 2.0 driver
- Display -- High definition (720p) display that is greater than 9" diagonally, 8 bits per colour channel (At Least)
Conclusion
In conclusion i believe that windows 11 is definitely worth upgrading to if you can make use of the new features or if you just like the design. However if you have been using windows 10 for a while and would prefer to stay with a comfortable OS that you know your way around, then that is completely fine and very understandable. With windows 11 bringing support for android apps i can see that a lot of people with android based devices will be switching, as this has been a very common request for Microsoft. Another feature i can see a lot of people using is the new widgets app in the taskbar as it is easy to reach and it feeds you information in easy to read segments.
